Website for Annulus

Annulus is a small family winery from longtime Napa Valley residents Luke Evnin and Deann Wright, and their daughters Alexandra and Elena. Its name, derived from the Latin word for “ring,” is an homage to the cycles and circles found in nature and those forged in the process of making and sharing wine.

Winemaker Nigel Kinsman works with prized Napa Valley sites, such as Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard and Vine Hill Ranch Vineyard, to craft classically structured Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as Sauvignon Blanc. Renowned international wine consultant Michel Rolland joins Kinsman and the family for blending sessions, resulting in wines that stand the test of time and support longevity in the cellar.

The Challenge

The Annulus team originally approached Vin in a time crunch. The project was brand-new, the wines were in barrel, and critics were already showing interest. Vin jumped into action and built a preliminary website that communicated the seriousness of the endeavor and honored the handsome visual identity work of Pate International Design.

In the months leading up to the release of the wines, the team returned to Vin for a more comprehensive website design. With critical accolades rolling in, it was clear that Annulus would be a wine for collectors, so Vin built a structure that can mature over time. A library of information on back vintages will continue to grow as this promising wine brand flourishes.

Eager to share their wines with the world, the proprietors decided to launch with an open storefront, offering the wines in three-packs with the option to convert to a fully allocated model in time. As befits a brand of this caliber, site visitors are guided through a process of learning about the wines before being invited to find the storefront.

  1. Introduce an exceptional new Napa Valley brand with a world-class pedigree.
  2. Communicate the brand story.
  3. Establish a feeling of subtle luxury and tastefully display art-quality photography.
  4. Integrate an open Commerce7 storefront while delivering an “allocated” shopping experience.
  5. Build a system that will continue to display robust back-vintage information in years to come.
